Center for a Free Cuba. Washington DC. October 15, 2022 – Today, October 15, 2022 at 2:00 pm, at his home in Velasco, Eduardo Cardet Concepción while talking on the phone long distance with Carlos Alberto Paya Sardiñas, the MCL representative in Spain, two Cuban government officials arrived, who did not identify themselves and told him that he had to accompany them to the city of Holguin.
The Christian Liberation Movement (MCL) decried the arrest of its National Coordinator Eduardo Cardet Concepción and demanded his immediate and unconditional release. “We call on all people of good will, institutions and governments of the free world to condemn this arbitrariness of the regime of the Cuban Communist Party and the group in power controlled by Raúl Castro,” said their spokesman Regis Iglesias Ramirez.
Yaimaris Vecino Leyva, his wife, went to the local branch of G-2 in Velasco to inquire about Eduardo, and was told a short while ago that he had been freed two hours earlier from Holguin, but she has not been able to speak with her husband and confirm his well being.
As of 8:00pm this evening there has been no word from the National Coordinator of the Christian Liberation Movement. “The Center for a Free Cuba condemns the arbitrary detention of Eduardo Cardet Concepción, and express our deep concern that regime authorities claimed to release him two hours earlier, but his wife has not heard from her husband. We fear for his safety, and pray that he appears safe and sound in short order reunited with his family,” said John Suarez, executive director, Center for a Free Cuba.
